Mission Statement – Uniting Our Seniors in Health and Wellness

Greetings and welcome to the University Hospitals Bedford Medical Center Senior Network!

Whether you are a service provider or an older adult in the area, there are great things happening in our Senior Network that you can certainly benefit from!

Our Senior Network is comprised of over 100 organizations that operate in Northeast Ohio with the mission of "Uniting our Seniors in Health and Wellness!" With more than 10 years of experience under our belt, we've got some great events planned this year to fulfill that mission statement.

Here are the events we planned this year:

On April 28, 2010, we will have our annual Spring Fling, which offers a relaxed atmosphere for fun and learning, along with a great lunch, a panel discussion and a fashion show. Held at the Twinsburg Hilton Garden Inn, this popular event will focus on busting the myths that surround aging in Northeast Ohio. We will have several "myth-busting" seniors for a panel discussion on aging successfully. This event is well attended every year, so be sure to watch for the flyers in the community to enter the lottery for your chance at tickets. For our entertainment, the fashion show this year will be about "Wives and Superstitions" and will provide an interesting look at how superstitions have affected dress codes over the years.

On July 16, 2010, we'll have our very popular Golf Outing at Briarwood Golf Course. This is a great group outing with many prizes, meals and a very relaxed time to spend with each other. The cost is reasonable and a great time is had by all!

On September 29, 2010, our annual "Fall Into Health Expo and Chili Cook-Off" is scheduled at the Solon Senior Center. Walk the aisles of the expo to learn more about services provided by many great eldercare companies and to fill your bag with a lot of goodies. There are also several great learning opportunities including a Panel Discussion with doctors, nurses and other healthcare providers. Our very popular Chili Cook-Off is still under $5. We can all feast on the chili from about 10 different companies and then rank the winner. At the end of the lunch, we'll vote for the Best Chili and award the winner with a trophy.

• If you are a service provider, we invite you to be active in our monthly meetings (see schedule below), and to join a planning committee to help prepare for and participate in these great events. The Senior Network is a great place to build relationships and expand your professional horizons.

So, whether you're a senior in the area or a service provider, you can see that the UH Bedford Medical Center Senior Network is a great place to learn, participate and help spur our mission of "Uniting Seniors in Health and Wellness"

2010 Meeting Schedule

If you are someone who works with older adults and who wants to learn more about our Senior Network, please join us for one of our meetings.

• 8:30-8:45 - Networking
• 8:45-9:00 - Host/Showcase
• 9:00-9:30 - Speaker
• 9:30-10:00 - Business Meeting
• 10:00 - Tours/Door Prize

• Host facilities will provide refreshments, a sign in/info table and a 5-minute presentation of their facility/agency. Tours can be offered after.
• Showcases will provide a door prize to raffle off and will do a 5 minute presentation of their facility/agency.
• A display/informational table will be available at all meetings for flyers on CEU's, Special events, etc.... from any network member.
