Mission Statement – Uniting Our Seniors in Health and Wellness

Welcome message from Autumn Richmond, Chairwoman:

Welcome to the UH Bedford Medical Center Senior Network! It is with great pride and enthusiasm that the members of our group truly live our Mission Statement: "Uniting Our Seniors in Health and Wellness." Every year, we provide a variety of opportunities for seniors to actively participate in their own Health and Wellness.

In the spring, we have our annual Spring Fling, which offers a relaxed atmosphere for fun and learning, along with a luncheon and a fashion show. This event has sold-out each spring. Last year, we offered tickets through a lottery. This seemed to be the best way to offer tickets to many people who have been unable to attend in the past. Please feel free to check back in March to download and print the flyer and entry form for a chance to be in the lottery. We will continue to offer our Fall Health Fair with the great health screenings and educational talks, as well as information and support about resources that are available in the community.

In addition to supporting seniors, Network members are also dedicated to each other. In July of 2008 we had our second annual Golf Outing, and it was another huge success. For 2009, we will be changing venues and moving our Golf Outing to Briarwood Golf Course in Broadview Heights. We would love to have more community members participate in this fun event! Please check back if you are interested, and you can download and print your registration form to participate. Please keep July 10th open on your Golf schedule.

In 2008, for the first time in the history of the UH Bedford Medical Center Senior Network, we had four Board Members step into Emeritus positions. These four Board Members have been with the Network from just about the beginning—if not the actual beginning—of this wonderful group. We are sad to see these Board Members step down because they were very integral in forming and making the Network what it is today! We are fortunate that they can visit any of the board or general meetings at any time, and we hope they do stay active with the group they made.

In closing, if you are truly committed to "Uniting Our Senior in Health and Wellness." We hope you will consider becoming a member and joining us at one of our monthly general meetings.

2009 Meeting Schedule

If you are someone who works with older adults and who wants to learn more about our Senior Network, please join us for one of our meetings.

• 8:30-8:45 - Networking
• 8:45-9:00 - Host/Showcase
• 9:00-9:30 - Speaker
• 9:30-10:00 - Business Meeting
• 10:00 - Tours/Door Prize

• Host facilities will provide refreshments, a sign in/info table and a 5 minute presentation of their facility/agency. Tours can be offered after.
• Showcases will provide a door prize to raffle off, and will do a 5 minute presentation of their facility/agency.
• A display/ informational table will be available at all meetings for flyers on CEUs, special events, etc., from any network member.
