It will be a day of fun, laughs, entertainment and education
when UHHS Bedford Medical Center and the Mayors'
Initiative join The
March of Dimes for their
WalkAmerica 2003.
This annual walk event will take place on Opening
Day at Six
Flags Worlds of Adventure, Saturday, May 3, 2003. WEWS
Live On Five Co-Anchor, Stefani Schaefer, is the Honorary Media
Chairperson.
Once again, eleven local mayors in Cuyahoga, Summit and Portage
counties are mobilizing their staffs and residents to take part
in this worthwhile benefit to save babies. This consortium, called
the Mayors' Health, Wellness and Safety Initiative, was
created in 2000 out of a series of meetings between the mayors
and UHHS Bedford Medical Center to create a health vision for
the region. The hospital facilitates the various health initiatives
developed by the mayors of Aurora, Bedford, Bedford Heights,
Glenwillow, Macedonia, Maple Heights, Oakwood Village, Solon,
Twinsburg, Walton Hills and Warrensville Heights.
For those wanting to participate in the Walk, registration will
begin at Six Flags at 8:00 a.m. with the Walk beginning at 9:00
a.m. There is a $125 minimum donation to participate in the Walk.
The donation includes admission to the park, refreshments, fun,
and entertainment with all proceeds benefiting the March Of Dimes.
Individuals and team walkers can enjoy either a 1.5 or 3 mile
route inside the Theme Park.
