Bedford, OH UHHS Bedford Medical
Center Senior Network
will be sponsoring caregiver workshops from 9 A.M. to 3
P.M. on Saturday, September 10 and Saturday, September 24, that
will offer helpful tips and coping mechanisms to assist the caregiver
in his or her "labor of love." The workshops, Up
the Creek Without a Paddle: Caregiver Solutions for Staying Afloat,
may also benefit an individual who is considering advanced planning
for his or her own future needs. Individuals who provide care
to a loved one or expect to provide care one day soon will find
these sessions beneficial. The sessions will take place at Light
of Hearts Villa, 283 Union Street in Bedford.
Representatives from organizations such as the Western Reserve
Area Agency on Aging, University Hospitals of Cleveland and Budish
and Solomon Law office will provide valuable information for
the caregiver. Physicians, nursing home representatives, hospice
and home health care representatives will be presenting on topics
such as Housing Options, Community Resources, Legal and Financial
Planning, Medical Aspects and Issues of Caregiving, Staying Safe
in the home, Driving, Depression and Anxiety and Stress Management.
These sessions are free to the public. However, registration
is required and there is limited seating. If you require respite
care for your loved one while you attend the seminars, we can
help! Please mention this when you call to make your reservation.
Senior Network members will be available along with the presenters
to answer questions and offer resources at each session.
Developed in 1997, the UHHS Bedford Medical
Center Senior Network unites agencies serving seniors. The network has fostered an
innovative model for the area in which agencies and staff who
support senior programs need not work in isolation, independent
from each other. UHHS Bedford Medical Center is the organizational
sponsor and advocate for the development of the Senior Network
and provides hospital-related programs and services to the network,
as well as financial support.
