UHHSBMCVolunteer Program

The program currently has over 80 active volunteers donating a minimum of three hours per week to the hospital. Volunteers come from the surrounding communities: Bedford, Bedford Heights, Macedonia, Maple Heights, Northfield, Sagamore Hills, Solon, Twinsburg, and Walton Hills.

During the summer months, June through August, a Junior Volunteer Program is implemented. Letters describing the program along with applications are mailed to all local middle schools and high schools early in May. Interested students between the ages of 14 and 18 are matched with departments according to hours available, assigned duties, and required skills. A department representative supervises the student and tracks the number of hours volunteered by the student. Students receive a Certificate of Community Service at the end of the program that verifies the numbers of hours they worked. Community Service hours are often a requirement for graduation.
